Mega Pwned::

It's enjoyable to observe the ego take over and cause humiliation to celebrities, specifically ones that are diva and are regretfully asked to sing America's national anthem in front of a billion spectators. This shows that the diva can't always get what she (sometimes he, ah-hem...Kanye) wants. And when individuals of power are pulled down from their pedestals, by shooting themselves in the foot, for at least a blink, the lower class value increases and the world is that much closer to unity. So Bush, Aguilera, Jackson, Simpson, care for more syrup on your ego?

Night Smells Better::

Life is always a work in progress, especially in the field of romance. That other person will always have flaws. It's up to you to go past the flaws and become infatuated with that other person's presence...but this Ultrsyd work in progress seems like a rare diamond.

On Purée::

Grand Hotel Records premieres this rip-roarious original meld of small-back hip hop and large-front electro-fidget sounds. There's a sense of The Prodigy influence in addition to Boys Noize and Justice. I'm interested in hearing more originals. Keep 'em coming.

Say Hello For Me::

Deep in the congested throat of Los Angeles was the Hard Summer Music Festival. A mixology of faces came out of the crevices of the city's Latino mountain range to come face-to-face with Chromeo, Duck Sauce, and Boys Noize. Security was tight so Frisco fans had no trouble standing adjacent aficionados in Dodger Blue. One thing, though, I wish they would create a beer garden that looks like a beer garden.

I Only Have Euros::

The other day a friend of mine bumped into the DJ tripod known as The Glitch Mob. He tells me he had an interesting small talk session with them about stripper poles at nightclubs. Not only do go-go dancers hobble around on the sub-woofers, but additionally, they give bonus points on a pole strapped on top. Next thing you know the girls will be activating their electromagnetic third eye and luring the boys' hands into the pockets to draw out dollar bills and crimping them into any nook and cranny appropriate.

Real Men Drink Pink::

Before it was Hpnotiq, now it's Nuvo. This tasty libation seems to be popping up at every party I pop up. Imagine a den of socialites chattering, laughing, holding flutes, glasses, mugs, 7-Eleven Big Gulp cups with pink innards. Maybe an idea should be invented. Pink night, only pink sparkling beverages allowed or else "...it's outta' he'a!"

ID, Please::

I'm remembering a little bar in the center of Newport Beach where the locals gather together to celebrate that they've made it to the weekend. It's usually brimly packed and you get what you pay for: decent priced drinks, beautiful people, bruh fights. It's practically a salute to Jersey Shore. I just thought Elite Force could dedicate this song to the bar known as The District.

The Real Paul Blart::

This past weekend saw an adventurous side of me. Saturday I had the option of going to two huge events: LA Rising or Audiotistic. Being around friends who love taking advantage of any situation, surprise is always around the corner. "Here are your Red Bulls, we're going to both." It seems I've been out of the loop on this secret meticulous plan to attend two shows in one night. It began at the Coliseum with Rise Against, Muse and RATM. Then a Speedy-Gonzalez drive down a few freeways into San Bernardino to crunch into a crowd of doped-drunked-spunned teen-folk enjoying the likes of Datsik, Major Lazer, and Wolfgang Gartner. I chose to watch Wolfgang Gartner. The night didn't end there. Headed towards a beautiful stranger's afterparty nearby, we were pulled over for speeding. And long story short, I had Boy 8-Bit playing when the blue-reds flashed.

This song will forever be stuck in my head.

Glum, Chum::

Sometimes it's good to keep your head down towards the ground and look like you're down and out. But on the other hand, you might discover a bundle of cash wafting in invisible midget twisters, totally $67.00. Now the hard part comes, what should I spend it on?

Not My Peg-leg::

"There's irony in them hills." What is the difference between a remix and a bootleg? DJs continually give their twists to original songs and suddenly it's a whole new piece of music written out as:

David Guetta - Stay (Le Knight Remix)
(or)
Daft Punk - Aerodynamic (Nicky Romero Bootleg)

Then the question goes, who's music is it now? Club spinners will say, "It's Guetta's, but it's mine too, since I changed it." Recording Labels will say, "It's Guetta's, with your red fingerprints on it." Let's do some definition hunting:

• A remix is a different version of its original counterpart.
• A bootleg is a remix of its original counterpart but without the explicit
permission of the artist.

Part and parcel. Ultimately, remix seems to be a prettier term than bootleg, as pre-owned sounds prettier than used. In conclusion, they're all essentially bootlegs, since 95% of DJs out there clearly do not have permission to remix a song. Yet listeners could care less. Just put on something that sounds good, maybe even different than what I've heard before and my aural pleasures will be satisfied.
